Very special performance (without an audience due to the pandemic) of Ludwig Van Beethoven's 9th Symphony by the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. This from the city whose center was completely destroyed by bombing at the beginning of the Nazi invasion of the Netherlands in 1940. Unfortunately, the Nazis did not understand the composer's and fellow countryman's wish that all people would become brothers. After all ... this musical masterpiece was composed on deaf ears, not for deaf ears.

I went to your tonight’s concert in seoul, korea and your symphonie pathetique was just mesmerizing. I go to that concert hall a lot, because i live just nearby, and tonight was simply one of the best symphony played there. I wanted to say thank you so much for coming to my country. We should see each other way, way more often!

Als de hemelpoorten voor je opengaan dan moet er wel Mahler klinken. De recente uitvoering in het concertgebouw was fantastisch, dicht gezeten bij de slagwerkers en direct achter de trombones / tuba was het weer een hele belevenis. Veel dank!

Mijn moeder (Rotterdam 1928 - Rotterdam 2017) heette ook Mies. Heeft de oorlog gelukkig overleefd, anders was ik nimmer geboren. Bijna al haar familieleden zijn vermoord in Sobibor en tevens ook in Auschwitz, die ik heden ten dage kan terugvinden op het Nationaal Holocaust Namenmonument. Dank voor de video.

Le 13 mai 1990, j'ai eu l' occasion d'assister en personne à l'exécution de cette 2ème symphonie de Gustav Mahler, dirigée par Bernard Haitink dans la salle "de Doelen" ! C'était pour le Herdenkingsconcert dans le cadre de la manifestation internationale pour la Paix à Rotterdam 1990 C'est un souvenir que je n'oublierai jamais ! Il est dommage que vous ne retransmettez pas la symphonie entière à cette occasion !

My father listened to all ties of classical music. This reminds me of him. I miss him so. He's been gone for 4 years now. Beautiful piece of music
